Review: MAC and TOPSHOP lipstick

*long introduction. Sorry about that. The review starts at the next
Hello,
When I was little I always used to look up to my mum when she was doing her make up. Not much later, I sneaked into the bathroom and found a way to get to my mum’s make up bag and began applying make up how I thought was the right way by looking at her. She says it started when I was two years old (which seems unlikely to me but she remembers it better than I do) and it didn’t really stop any more.
Now, the tables are turned and she sneaks into the bathroom to use my make up. Over a year ago, I fell in love with lipsticks. Some people bite their nails, I bite my lips until they bleed and get infected and still, I will bite my lips, regardless of how much it hurts. I can’t help it. ): I used lots of lip balsams and other stuff to stop it. Nothing helped me to stop biting my lips until I decided to start wearing lipsticks.
I didn’t want lipstick to come off or getting lipstick on my teeth because of all the lip biting. So there it was, a simple solution and a nice way to experiment with make up. Slowly, red lipstick became my ‘trademark’. However, I got a bit tired of red and when I was in England a week ago, I bought a MAC lipstick and a Topshop lipstick and why not share my experience with you?

MAC Sheen Supreme Insanely It lipstick. 14.50 pounds
I knew there was a MAC store in Brighton. After walking around and without knowing where I was, I saw a MAC sign hanging in the distance. My feet started walking to the sign and before I knew it, I was standing inside. My first visit to a MAC store. As much as I would like to say that the people were really nice, they weren’t. They came to me and wanted to help me but after friendly declining them (unusual in that store? I don’t know.) I was forgotten. So after a good thirty minutes standing in front of the lipsticks I went with the Insanely It lipstick.
It’s a bright pink lipstick with a glossy shine which I liked. The lipstick is easy to apply and feels soft on my lips. It doesn’t get dry and provide some moisturization which I liked since it’s really cold in The Netherlands at this moment. After three hours, the lipstick is still visible on lips while I also drank some water and ate a slice of bread.

Topshop All About Me. 8 pounds
I heard a lot of good things about the Topshop lipsticks so I gave it a try as well and my dear, I’m glad I did that. I love it! I wanted a red one but I could only find the tester so I asked one the girls who works there if they could help me searching for the row with the red lipsticks. Unfortunately, the tester was the last one. They even went looking in the store room. So I went with the ‘All About Me’ one.
Just like the MAC one, this one is bright pink. It has a matte finish and makes my lips feel really smooth. Apply it in the morning and at dinner you will still see the lipstick. Not as good as in the morning but good enough to be visible. What I don’t like about it is that it makes my lips feel dry throughout the day. So I put on a bit of lush snow fairy, also pink, and I’m good to go again :) I also like the packing.

SUMMARY:
MAC lipstick:
  • shiny gloss
  • last +/- 3 hours
  • not dry
  • 14.50 pounds
Topshop lipstick:
  • bright pink
  • matte finish
  • last long
  • 8 pounds
  • gets a bit dry after +/- an hour
Overall, I’m happy with my lipsticks and I’m glad I didn’t go with a red one (:

Introduction

Hello!
Since this is my first ever post on my blog, I thought it’d be a good idea to introduce myself.
I was born in a small city called Sittard in the south of The Netherlands on December 2, 1993. So right now I’m 19 years old. I still live at home with my mum & dad and my two gorgeous dogs Spikey (white) and Tommie (black) who I treat as my little brothers since I’m an only child.

Music has always been a big part of my life. Both my parents didn’t grow up with music but I loved it. Funny fact: I wanted my first album to be a Britney Spears album. I didn’t get a Britney Spears album though.. Dancing became my way of expressing my feelings. So was listening to music and the lyrics. Unfortunately because of personal reasons I was forced to quit dancing and that’s where my life took a wrong turn.
Now, after 6 and a half years of struggling, I graduated my high school and decided to take a gap year. I am planning to move to Brighton, UK. And lately I am getting more and more into fashion and photography, writing, make up, filming. I always swore I wouldn’t go to a University because I created a passionate hatred of school but I guess I’m growing up a bit and I am considering to actually go to a creative University one day. But for now, I’m enjoying my gap year and the planning of me moving to Brighton.
